Kakobuy

A China shopping and consolidation agent whose own help centre is unusually explicit: it publishes storage limits, a per-state cancellation rule, a tiered return fee table and a destination allowance table.

The list is where the items are. This page is about the agent that would carry them.

Status note

Reachable at the time of the check; help centre pages listed below were readable.

The same five points

What it is

Self-described as a shopping agent with no handling fee: “kakobuy require no handling fees” beyond the item cost and shipping fee (help centre, question id=63). The same page gives its own total-cost formula: item cost plus international freight plus duty, where item cost means the item price plus domestic freight to the warehouse.

How a link gets in

A single marketplace item is submitted and quoted before payment. Marketplace coverage stated on its own pages is Taobao, 1688 and Weidian.

What is checked

The inspection page states that inspection covers “appearance, likes model, style, and size” only. For sealed or tamper-taped goods, and for anything outside clothing, bags, luggage and footwear, the wrapping is not opened and only the appearance is checked. Electronics are explicitly excluded from authenticity, function and quality checks (question id=89).

What it costs

Published figures found: a customs declaration charge of generally RMB 8.00 per parcel, depending on the shipping method (id=63); PayPal top-ups at 3.5% plus US$0.3, with Alipay and WeChat listed as free but delayed by 1–60 minutes (id=64). Exchange rates are described as adjusted to the latest rate published by the Bank of China; no markup figure is published.

What it cannot do

It cannot certify authenticity, and it says so twice: the inspection page excludes it, and the anti-counterfeiting policy states that non-authentic goods are strictly prohibited and that breaches may lead to loss of purchase privileges, withheld funds and disposal of inventory held (id=125).

Verified, and not

Verified in this check

  • Storage: 100 days free for a normal parcel from the moment the status reaches storage, with an email reminder at day 90 and disposal after day 100; 60 days for an unmatched parcel (id=1).
  • Cancellation split by order state: paid, processing, mailed, warehouse (id=51).
  • A 5-day no-reason return and exchange window counted as 120 hours from the status change, with the first return and first exchange each calendar month free of the service fee (id=51).
  • A rising service-fee table for returns and exchanges beyond the free monthly allowance (id=51).
  • A list of categories excluded from no-reason returns, including customised items, underwear, food, second-hand goods and anything whose tags or packaging were removed as requested (id=51).
  • A destination allowance reference table for 11 markets, which the same page states was collected from internet sources and is for reference only (id=69).
  • A note that parcels over 10 kg, and parcels with many identical items, are more likely to be treated as commercial consignments (id=69).
  • Claim timing: report a damaged or missing parcel to support within 72 hours of signing, and to the local post office within 2 days where delivery was not inspected in front of the courier (id=54).
  • A third-party review profile showing a TrustScore of 4 out of 5 across 303 reviews, with the same page noting the company has not recently invited reviews and has not replied to negative reviews.

Not verified

  • The number of free QC photos. A widely repeated “three free photos” figure does not appear in the official inspection rules page; treat it as community repetition.
  • Any exchange-rate markup above the published reference rate.
  • A service-fee percentage. The official statement is that there is no handling fee; third-party percentage claims conflict with it and were not adopted.
  • The volumetric divisor used for chargeable weight (5000 or 6000). No official page states it.
  • Any transit-day average.

These stay unverified rather than estimated. If you have a written answer from the agent on any of them, sending it in is the fastest way to move a row.

Where this agent’s orders usually go wrong

Treating the 5-day window as five working days

Signal. The order status changed on a Friday and you plan to decide on the following Thursday.

What to do. Count 120 hours from the status change, not five business days. If the window is close, ask for one more photo rather than letting it lapse while you decide.

Assuming a sealed box was opened for inspection

Signal. The item is a sealed electronics box and you expect a function check.

What to do. Read the exclusions before you order. Sealed goods and electronics are outside the inspection scope, so the QC set will not settle function or authenticity.

Letting the storage clock run on the slowest item

Signal. One item arrived on day 1 and another seller still has not dispatched on day 20.

What to do. Decide the shipping date against the earliest arrival. Free storage is counted per item, so the first arrival sets your deadline.

How these rows stay current

Every figure above is re-read monthly from the pages named, and any wording change is diffed on the term snapshot pages rather than silently updated.

Rows are not refreshed to look recent. A row changes when the wording behind it changes, and the diff is kept on the term snapshot pages.
